The reason i have done this, and not made a complete switch is that i still like the programs i use on windows (Like: Dreamweaver, Adobe Flash etc) but when i know i am not going to be doing anything remotely geeky, or some Linux based geekiness then i wobble myself over to Ubuntu. Regarding the Graphics Card, i found that Ubuntu prefers nVidia over ATI. I have a multi boot system with Ubuntu on one partition, and Windows XP on another partition.

And are you certain, that no program writes information (like logfiles) to other locations than your home folder? I'm not ;) Anyhow, thanks for your comment, Peter! By default ALL your settings and files are stored in your home folder.
